Positive Health

Health means something different to everyone. For you, it may simply mean that you have no complaints, while someone else may feel healthy despite having a chronic condition. Health is therefore not just about the absence of illness, but also about how well you can adapt to changes in your body and life.

Health affects everything: your work, sports, social contacts and daily activities. Everyone has their own goals and is looking for a way to live healthily. Those who strengthen their resilience feel better and take more control of their lives.


What is important to you may differ from what a general practitioner or healthcare provider expects. That is why an open conversation is so important. Positive Health takes a broader view of health. It is not just about medical complaints, but also about self-reliance, happiness and how you function on a daily basis. How do you feel? Are you able to participate in society as you would like to? Together, we will look at what is important to you and what you need to live as healthily as possible.

Healthcare providers Positive Health

Many healthcare providers in the Amstelland region work according to the principles of Positive Health and are trained in conducting Positive Health consultations. These consultations are based on the six dimensions of Positive Health: bodily functions, mental well-being, meaning, quality of life, participation and daily functioning. Based on the cobweb will determine which topic will be pursued further.

The spider web

The Positive Health spider web helps you map out how you experience your health. This is a useful tool for discussions with your GP, practice nurse, dietitian or physiotherapist. Health is about more than just medical care; it is also about fitness, independence and social connectedness. By discussing what is important to you, we can look at suitable options.

On www.mijnpositievegezondheid.nl you can complete a short questionnaire. This will generate a personal spider diagram: an overview showing how you score on the six dimensions of health. The closer you are to the outer edge, the better you feel in that area. This gives you immediate insight into your health and well-being.
